Our approach
Canstruct's focus is residential.
Most of the work is on existing homes, where the building stock has its own quirks and where the skill of the builder shows in how carefully it is treated. Renovations and extensions make up the bulk of what we do. New homes are taken on selectively where the design and the site warrant it. Heritage work draws on a decade of Sydney terrace and period home experience. Remedial building covers the structural, water, roof and hazardous materials work that protects what is already there. Commercial work is occasional, by referral.
Renovations
Substantial residential renovations to older homes, heritage properties, beach houses and family homes. Kitchens, bathrooms, internal reconfiguration, structural work, outdoor additions and the waterproofing that determines whether the result lasts.
Extensions & Additions
First floor additions, rear and side extensions, and the considered additions that turn a home with good bones into a home that fits the way you now live. Integration with the existing structure is the discipline these projects reward.
New Homes
Architecturally designed homes built with care, working alongside leading architects and designers. A small number of projects each year, taken on where the design, the site and the client warrant the full attention of an experienced builder.
Heritage
Period homes, heritage-listed buildings and conservation areas. A decade of inner Sydney heritage work, applied to older homes across the Byron Shire. The kind of building most builders will not take on.
Remedial
Structural repairs, water damage, roof remedial and asbestos work on existing buildings. Asbestos removal is coordinated through licensed removalists as part of the project. The unglamorous work that protects what is there, delivered with the trades and the experience to handle complex problems on older buildings.
Commercial
Canstruct undertakes commercial building work selectively where the project suits. This includes shop and commercial fit-outs, schools, and hospitality venues, as well as retreats, event venues and wedding venues. Contact us to discuss your project.
